Deceased Pancreas Donation

Listing Process

Once a patient has been accepted as a candidate for pancreas transplant and is found medically fit for surgery, his name will be registered in the zonal cadaveric waiting list. The waiting list is prepared and maintained by Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC) Nagpur. This list is according to the recipient’s blood group and it may contain patients from all over the country. The process of allocation of cadaveric donor organs is done by the ZTCC and is strictly according to a patient’s place/ position on the waiting list.

All patients planned for living donor kidney transplant (at the same time as of cadaveric pancreas transplant) need clearance from the government appointed district authorization committee. Our administrative staff will help patients and their families understand and prepare various legal forms, affidavits and supporting documents. Proofs of identity, residence and donor-recipient relationship have to be submitted with application to the authorization committee. Donors who are not near-relatives and stay in other states have to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their state of domicile. Living donor transplant can only happen after clearance from the authorization committee. The transplant team is independent of the authorization committee and cannot influence its decision.
